John P. Calamos, Sr. is the Founder, Chairman, and Global CIO of Calamos Investments, a global asset management firm he started in 1977. An alumnus of the Illinois Institute of Technology, he is a recognized pioneer in using convertible securities and other risk-managed strategies, and has authored two books on the subject.
A decorated U.S. Air Force veteran, he is deeply committed to philanthropy, particularly within the Greek-American community, serving as Chairman of the National Hellenic Museum. He actively supports veteran causes and higher education, holding a position on the Board of Trustees at his alma mater, the Illinois Institute of Technology.
He is a decorated combat pilot who flew over 400 missions in the Vietnam War and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.
