Dr. Karen Chumbley is the Co-CEO of St Helena, leveraging over 25 years of experience as a General Practitioner to lead in end-of-life care. She holds an MSc from Cardiff University and is recognized for her strategic leadership in improving palliative care outcomes across North East Essex, both at St Helena and previously with the NHS.
Outside of her clinical and executive roles, Karen is a dedicated runner, recently participating in the London and Colchester half marathons. She runs to raise funds for St Helena, an organization she is deeply connected to, having seen its compassionate care firsthand with her own family, including her father, in whose memory she runs.
Her professional mission is profoundly personal; her familys experience with hospice services transformed their end-of-life experience, fueling her passion for this work.
