Kevin Rudd

Dr. Kevin Rudd serves as Australias Ambassador to the United States, drawing on his prior experience as the countrys 26th Prime Minister. An Oxford DPhil graduate, he focuses on bolstering the US-Australia alliance through security, investment, and innovation partnerships.

Outside of his diplomatic duties, he is a distinguished Sinologist and author, fluent in Mandarin. He maintains a deep academic interest in Chinese politics and US-China relations, which was the subject of his doctoral thesis. He is married to Thérèse Rein.

He is one of the few Western leaders who is fluent in Mandarin, which he taught himself in college.
