Kia Vernon is a Professor of Law at CUNY School of Law with over two decades of experience as a lawyer and educator. A champion for social justice and equity, her career is dedicated to public interest law and dismantling structural injustice. She holds both a JD and a Doctorate in Education.
Outside of academia, she is a passionate advocate for HBCUs. Along with her husband, she established a $25, 000 endowed scholarship for law students with financial needs at her alma mater, North Carolina Central University. She is also fluent in Spanish and co-created a podcast for minority law students.
Unique fact: She co-authored a book, "Investing in Your Success, " designed to guide first-year law students, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds.
