Outside of her professional work, Virkein is an open-water swimmer, craft enthusiast, and has a background as an independent dancer. She has directed contemporary dance festivals and co-founded a theatre. She volunteers her time with a women-led social enterprise and a not-for-profit research facility.
She received the Next Generation Foresight Practitioners Entrepreneur Special Award for her “Futures from the Periphery” approach.
