Ailsa Bosworth MBE is the founder and National Patient Champion for the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS). She established the patient-led charity in 2001 due to her own experiences with rheumatoid arthritis. After 18 years as CEO, she now focuses on developing self-management resources and supporting rheumatology research, receiving an MBE for her work.
Having lived with rheumatoid arthritis for over 40 years, Ailsa has had to give up many sports and hobbies. She prioritizes her work but transitioned to her current part-time role to devote more time to her family. Her personal health journey directly fuels her professional passion for patient advocacy.
Unique fact: Ailsa started NRAS in her early 50s, changing her career from business management in male-dominated industries like engineering and computing to create the charity.
