Edward A. (Ward) Sayre is the Executive Associate Dean for the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Southern Mississippi. An economist with a Ph. D. from the University of Texas at Austin, his research focuses on Middle East labor markets, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, and US health policy. He previously directed the School of Social Science and Global Studies.
Outside of his university duties, Ward is an avid runner and maintains a blog called "Frugal Runners, " where he shares race reports, training insights, and tips for saving money on race entries and travel. He balances a busy academic and administrative schedule with his passion for running, often writing about the challenges and successes of doing so.
He is the co-editor of "Young Generation Awakening, " a book analyzing the socioeconomic conditions and politics of youth activism preceding the Arab Spring.
