A graduate of the University of Utah with a Masters degree in science and technology, her work is deeply rooted in data-driven policy. People familiar with her work often call her tenacious.
Her entry into public service was driven by a deeply personal cause: learning that the citys poor air quality could shorten her newborn sons life. This motivated her to move from activism to policy-making to create a healthier community. She and her husband, Kyle, live in the East Liberty Park neighborhood with their three children.
Instead of leaving the city, she co-founded the non-profit organization Breathe Utah to advocate for cleaner air.
