Ilene Squires

Ilene Squires is the Associate Director of Recruitment at Uncommon Schools, leveraging a deep background in education reform. Her career began with Teach For America and includes co-founding a charter school in Harlem. She holds a Masters degree in Bilingual Education from Fordham University and a B. A. from San Diego State University.

Outside of her work in education, Ilene is a professional photographer with her own business, focusing on telling stories through images. A former high school basketball captain and marathon runner, she is also a passionate Los Angeles Lakers fan and has lived in Spain on three separate occasions.

Unique Fact: Ilene traveled to Japan on a Fulbright scholarship and has worked as an English language consultant in India.
