Janelle Spinks is a PhD student in chemistry at the University of Melbourne, conducting research within the Donnelly Group. Her work focuses on synthetic chemistry to create metal-based compounds for therapeutic and diagnostic applications, previously including treatments for neurodegenerative diseases.
Outside of the lab, Janelle is committed to her community. She participates in cycling fundraisers like the "Ride for Lily" and actively mentors high school students, encouraging them to pursue careers in science. She is a recognized young leader in her community.
Her career goal is to either create novel treatments for diseases or discover new ways to tackle climate change.
