Richard is a strategic technology leader with 35 years of experience, including roles as an IBM Distinguished Engineer and the 19th President of IBMs Academy of Technology. Now Director at Engineering Fusion Ltd, he focuses on the governance and modernization of complex national systems for government clients. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Durham University.
Outside of work, Richard is passionate about inspiring children into STEM fields. He runs the "Old dog, new tricks" blog, detailing his hobby of building a sophisticated robot dog. He makes all the designs and software open source for anyone to use and adapt freely.
He was only the third President of IBMs prestigious Academy of Technology to be appointed from outside of North America.
