Dr. Shixia Huang is a Professor and Director at Baylor College of Medicine with over 20 years of experience in breast cancer research, genomics, and proteomics. A graduate of Michigan State University, she leads multiple NIH-funded programs, including an antibody-based proteomics core and a biotechnology research incubator for teachers.
Outside of her research, she is deeply committed to mentorship and youth development, serving on the board of Youth Service America (YSA). This passion is personal, as her own children have participated in YSA programs. She also shows an interest in contemporary fiction, such as heist novels.
She directs a unique NIH-funded program that trains middle and high school science teachers in cutting-edge biotechnologies.
