Outside of his civic duties, Stuart is passionate about history and the countryside. His interests include Medieval history, cycling, and classic cars. He is married with four children and four grandchildren and serves as a Churchwarden for a Medieval church in East Sussex, reflecting his deep community involvement.
For his services to the French poultry industry, he was awarded the Chevalier du Merit DAgricole by the French Republic.
