Hala Madanat
Inquirer · DISC type cdDr. Hala Madanat is the Vice President for Research and Innovation at San Diego State University, where she is also a Distinguished Professor of Public Health. She drives the universitys research enterprise, including the Mission Valley Innovation District. Under her leadership, research funding grew by nearly 64% in three years, reaching $230 million.
She is passionate about global health, with a specific focus on health issues in her home country of Jordan. Her research on the social and cultural determinants of health has covered cancer prevention, nutrition, and tobacco control. She also serves on the board of the American Cancer Society.
As a Fulbright Scholar in 2012, she conducted research in Jordan on chronic disease prevention.
