Dr. Ian Beil is the Manager of Transmission Planning at Portland General Electric, where he leads a team of engineers studying long-term grid challenges. An expert in electrical power systems with a PhD from the University of Michigan, his work focuses on renewable energy integration, grid stability, and transportation electrification.
As an adjunct faculty member at Portland State Universitys Maseeh College of Engineering, Dr. Beil is also dedicated to mentoring the next generation of engineers. He is passionate about developing the talent and infrastructure needed to support a transition to renewable energy while maintaining reliability for customers.
He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois and an active member of the IEEE Power & Energy Society.
