Jeroen Van den Akker
Login to view DISC.Jeroen is the Director of Bioinformatics at Color, where he leads a team of data scientists and engineers. With a PhD in Biomedical Engineering and a background in molecular biology, he specializes in developing variant detection algorithms and supporting clinical testing pipelines using whole genome sequencing. He is based in Palo Alto.
Outside of work, Jeroen is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys running in the Bay Area hills and visiting National Parks with his family. He has also spent time coaching his daughters basketball team and previously competed as a top-ranked player in the sport of Draughts (checkers).
He once competed against one of the strongest Draughts-playing computer programs in the Netherlands.
