Julie Gittoes

Dr. Julie Gittoes is the Vicar of Hendon and Area Dean of Barnet. A respected theologian with a PhD from Cambridge University, she serves on the Church of Englands Faith and Order Commission and contributes to theological discourse through her authorship and editorial work, focusing on ecclesiology, sacraments, and marriage.

Her personal interests are deeply intertwined with her professional life, incorporating film, theatre, art, novels, and politics into her preaching and teaching. She enjoys the social and civic life of Barnet, engaging in interfaith work, and shares her vicarage with two cats.

Julie was a commissioner on the Archbishops’ Commission on Families and Households, which produced the influential 2023 "Love Matters" report.
