Phillip is a seasoned academic and public servant with over 25 years as a tenured Political Science Professor at Chicago State University and current roles as Assistant Vice Provost at the University of Illinois Chicago and an analyst for the City of Chicago. A veteran of the U. S. Air Force, he holds a Ph. D. from the University of Illinois Chicago.
Outside of his official roles, Phillip is a certified training leader for Mankind Project International, leading workshops on emotional literacy and leadership across the US, UK, South Africa, and Australia. He also volunteers facilitating workshops for inmates in the California prison system and is a married father to two daughters and three step-sons.
He co-founded a faculty blog critical of his universitys administration, leading to a successful, high-profile free speech lawsuit.
