Dr. Namandjé Bumpus is the Chief Scientific and Innovation Officer at Charles River Laboratories, leading the companys scientific strategy and innovation. A former FDA Principal Deputy Commissioner and Chief Scientist, she has deep expertise in regulatory science and policy. Dr. Bumpus earned her PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Michigan.
She is passionate about developing the careers of others and championing diversity and inclusion in science, a commitment she demonstrated as the first associate dean for institutional and student equity at Johns Hopkins. Her father was a professional boxer, and she grew up in that world, an experience she credits with teaching her integrity.
